Many workplaces provide you health insurance benefits that cover the cost of services from a Registered Social Worker up to a certain maximum per year . Check into this with your insurance plan, I'll provide you with a receipt you can submit to your plan for reimbursement.
Insurance plans that may cover my social work services include Sunlife, Blue Cross, Manulife, Canada Life and Surelife. Call your insurance provider or check your benefit website to see if you have coverage and the amount available.
Q: Can I just call and ask questions first before actually booking a session?
A: Yes! PLEASE DO! I provide a free 15 minute phone consultation to check what service you are needing and if I can provide services to meet your needs. Feel free to give me a call and we can have a short chat about what you are looking for and how I can help, and see if we think it would be a good fit and I can meet your needs and expectations. Don't hesitate to ask any questions.
Q: Is there a certain amount of sessions I need to commit to?
No, you can attend one session or as many sessions as you like. There is no commitment. After the first session we can talk about what works for you.
Q: Do I have to have a 'serious problem or issue' to go to counselling?
No. everyone attends counselling for different reasons. I welcome you to counselling for everything from wanting to make small life changes or parenting support, to seeking therapy for mental health issues like depression and anxiety. Sometimes it is useful to work on little problems before they get to be big problems.
Q: How do I pay for my sessions?
I receive payment for services through e-transfer after each session.
